Brand Guideline + Redesign of Logo & Packaging

Mia’s consists of handmade aromatherapy botanicals in the tranquil hills of Santa Fe. Their goal is for quality natural personal care products. As they had started off small and self-initiated their branding had started off with an at home touch, as they’ve expanded the desire for a more refined look was needed.

ORIGINAL BRANDING

The brand’s biggest struggle was that the products were getting lost on the shelves of local whole food markets and grocers. The original packaging did not compare to the bigger budget self-care products such as Acure, Tom’s, Burt’s Bees, or Alba. So, for the redesign we focused on creating a look that stayed true to the simplicity and natural properties of the products, with an emphasis on brand recognition.

Here are some samples that were the sort of design aesthetic that inspired the look and feel that the Mia’s brand. Giving an overall feeling of a homemade look but still simple and professional. As Mia’s was built around the values of natural ingredients, small batch creation and trustworthy products.

Through the packaging we wanted to create a hierarchy of info. Leading the customer from the logo to the type of product and the vibes that Mia’s embodies, which is raw, organic, and made from earth herself. To create this atmosphere for the Mia’s brand we will use a limited selection of fonts.

For the color palette, we created a scheme of colors that emulates the feeling of nature. We will keep the colors within a naturally occurring color range so that the packaging gives the buyer a feeling of the brand’s importance on the homemade, simple, and natural qualities of the products.

To further the importance of the environmental affects that the company has we switched a majority of the packaging to natural brown glass and when absolutely necessary environmentally sound brown plastic containers. Further enforcing the brand recognition from container to label and logo. Creating that comprehensive brand reputation.

In the end the clients choice was Style 3 as this was the best option as it was best for all forms of formats that the labels would be situated for. Such as lip balm, soaps, jars, bottles, and so on and so forth. This style was then formatted, printed and adhered. Giving the end result a beautiful finish and a comprehensive flow and brand recognition.
